April Member of the Month- Brooke M.

April 5, 2019

Our member of the month for April is Brooke M. Brooke has been with us for about a year! Brooke started out in our intro class with Katie and has developed into a frequent sweater in our 9 am metabolic class. She has made exercise a crucial part of her day and finds it just as rewarding mentally as it is physically rewarding! We are proud of you Brooke!

Throughout your lifetime, how long have you been working out for and what do you enjoy most about fitness?

My first job out of college was at Rodale Press (publisher of health and fitness magazines and books), which was way ahead of the curve as an employer because they offered a beautiful gym, a fitness trail and free classes way back in the 1980's. That is when I got involved in fitness, besides walking, running or aerobics in college. I have gone through periods of time between gyms or not making time to exercise at various points in my life, but not for long. I have, however, NEVER enjoyed a gym or classes more than I do KSP Fitness! A day without it is a day I the fun of group fitness and feeling great!

Since training at KSP Fitness, what have you learned the most about fitness as well as about yourself?

How important it is as I age to have the well-rounded exercise beginning and ending with good stretching I get by going to KSP Fitness regularly...muscle groups, coordination, flexibility, heart rate.  As for myself I realize how much it centers me mentally, emotionally and physically especially during difficult/ stressful life experiences like caring for elderly parents in end-stages and coping with loosing them a month apart.

What do you like most about the workouts? And what is your favorite exercise?

That is a tough one because there are so many things I love about my almost daily workouts. If I had to choose one, I'd say it sets the tone for my day! I feel centered, calm, energized, optimistic and better equipped to focus on work and life. My favorite exercises are tough ones, especially those that get my heart rate up like pushing the sleds, relays, or ball slams.

What would you recommend to someone looking to start training?

Do it. It is an investment in yourself with so many payoffs...weight loss or control, strength, a sense of balance, overall well-being, and above all fun!
